The Dip to Dovercourt :)

After windsurfing 95 miles in two days and my arms being shot to pieces I was hoping for no wind today. It started light but hot with wall to wall sunshine then after a relaxing start in the garden we walked up the town then town the beach to find a nice onshore sea blowing looking perfect for a bit of longboard cruising. It was too nice a day not to give it ago after missing out on some longboard fun with the Hurrells yesterday. After a quich sandwich I was at The Dip at 1:15 rigging up my 9.4 as Phil Trett was going through his longboard freestyle tricks:) It was my first time out with my new Mystic shortie - top suit and fits like a glove. I started beating down the coast up on the rail and going well, you can't beat sailing upwind on a raceboard just so much fun. I reached Felixstowe Docks and the River Orwell entance in seven tacks, then with no large ships in sight crossed the shipping channel as the pilot boat motor up and down but took no notice of me. I soon crossed the channel even though it was rough as the tide kicked up some wild water! I then reached to the twin towers on Dovercourt beach where I landed for a quick chat with a couple of locals before heading back. I beat out so I could clear the Landguard breakwater before bearing off and reaching 6 miles back past The Dip planning all the way. The sea was so smooth especially along by the pier only chopping up as I past Jacobs Ladder. So another 20 miles enjoying the longboard - top afternoon:)
